In the case of Henry J. Deutschendorf Jr., also know as the pop singer John Denver, who died in a plane crash in 1997, the distribution of his $19 million estate took that long because he didn't have a comprehensive estate plan. He didn't even have a will.

Walking into J. Warren Perry's apartment is a bit like stepping into a museum. Many museums, actually.
Warren, dean emeritus of the School of Health Relation Professions at the University of Buffalo, has accumulated hundreds of pieces of art and collectibles over his 80-year-plus lifetime, including an opera and music collection valued at more than $300,000; a Shakespeare collection that covers every square inch of his bedroom walls and an adjoining room as well as religious items, pottery and historical Buffalo artifacts.

Children's received the gift of a lifetime

It's always nice to send a thank-you note.
John Johnson got his first note from Elsie Dawe some 10 years ago. Johnson had sent a check - not much, maybe $10 - to Children's Hospital. Dawe, who takes care of ths hospital's donations, sent back a handwritten note. Something about how his generosity makes a difference.
